Reset the network stack in an admin terminal:

netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig /flushdns

Then reboot. Or use Settings > Network & internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset, which also reinstalls adapters.

  1. connected, sceured, no itnernet, im going in circles.

    Network & internet

    Network & internet
    Wi-Fi • HomeNet_5G
    No internet, secured

Connected, but nothing loads. Troubleshoot problems?

the laptop worked fine at home until the network driver updated... other devices are completely fine on the same Wi-Fi, i tried the network troubleshooter, and it said something about DNS but didnt fix it... im comfortable running commands if someone tells me which ones and what to look for in the output. any ideas??

  2. Check for VPN or security software leftovers. Network filter drivers from old VPN clients can break traffic after a network driver update. Look at the adapter's Properties list for extra filter entries u don't recognize. lmk how it goes

  3. Roll back the Wi-Fi driver in Device Manager > Network adapters > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver, or install the laptop/board makers version from their support page. Some driver releases have trouble with certain router security modes.

  7. hmm idk sometimes the routers band steering or WPA3 transition mode clashes with a new driver. Testing on a different router setting is worth it before blaming teh dirver alone. just my 2 cents

  8. @frame_hound-3h6 It was DNS :/ Set it manually, connectivity check passes, and browsing is snappy again. Thanks for teh layered testing approach!
