the gaming laptop is about two years old... i updated to Radeon Adrenalin Graphics Driver 23.12.1 cuz a game asked me to, and honestly i regret it. i've read about TDR, DDU, rollback, registry tweaks, and now i'm overwhelmed. can someone give me a sane order to try things in so i'm not changing five things at once?

  3. been there man that pattern (black screen, then "display driver stopped responding and has recovered") is Windows TDR: the GPU didnt answer within teh timeout so Windows reset the driver. Open Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System and look for Event ID 4101 from Display or nvlddmkm/amdkmdag/igfx. The timestamps tell you if it lines up with ur symptom. lmk how it goes

  6. some people raise TdrDelay in the registry to hide this. i wouldnt start there: it just gives teh GPU longer to hang and doesnt fix anything. Use it as a diagnostic at most, and remove it afterwards.
