Accessibility dsicussion time. I keep seeing strong opinions about auto-playing carousels, and both sides sound very sure of themselves. For an online shop, we want to do the right thing, not just teh thing that looks good on a checklist. How do you decide what actually improves life for people using keyboards, screen readers, magnifiers or voice control? Practical advice welcome, especially things a small team can actually keep doing.
Are Auto-Playing Carousels Actually Accessible, Or Just Good Marketing?? ugh
sorry forgot to say there are contractual requirements to meet WCAG AA, but nobody's sure how to prove it.
been there man csutom dropdowns are a common source of trouble. native
<select>elements come with keybaord support and screen reader semantics for free. If you need a custom one, follow the ARIA patterns closely and test with real assistive technology.@dima_byte WOWWW hired a tester who uses a screen reader for a session. eye-opening. an online shop will be much better for it.
