  1. long time lurker first post lol I'm tearing my hair out. My a survival crafting game server on my old desktop works locally, but my friends' server list shows nothing. I forwarded UDP 27015 and still got this on the host when I checked teh network:

    Network & internet

    Network & internet
    Wi-Fi • HomeNet_5G
    No internet, secured

Connected, but nothing loads. Troubleshoot problems?

any ideas before i give up and rent a server?

im reasonably techy, but networking is not my strong suit. id appreciate a checklist of what usually goes wrong, sooo I can go through it step by step.

  5. Many games use more than one port: a game port and a query port. The server list uses teh query port. Check the server config and forward both. fingers crossed 🤞

  7. ok so if you have a modem/router combo plus your own router, you may be double-NATed. Either put teh ISP device in bridge mode or forward teh ports on both devices. fingers crossed 🤞

  8. ahh classic port checker sites often report UDP ports as closed even when they work, because UDP has no handshake. Test by having a friend connect directly with ur public IP and port instead.

  10. Check whether youre behind CGNAT. Compare teh WAN IP shown on your router with teh public IP shown by a what is my IP site. If they differ, or teh routers WAN IP starts with 100.64 to 100.127, your ISP uses CGNAT and port forwarding wont work.. 😂 ask ur ISP for a public IP. lmk how it goes
