Would You Trust Debian As Your ONLY OS For Programming?

  1. Ive been dual booting Windows and Debian for a while, and i noticed i almost never boot Windows anymore. The only reason i keep it is programming, and even that is starting to feel optional. Before i wipe the Windows partition, i want to hear from ppl who made teh jump completely. Did you regret it? What broke that you didnt expect? Whats the one app u still miss? Im not looking for a flame war, just real experiences. If you went back to Windows, Id love to hear why too, cuz thats prob the most useful story of all. what am i doing wrong??

  3. been there man keep the dual boot for a few months but make Linux the default boot entry. If you go weeks without needing Windows, you have your answer.

  4. ok so hardware matters more than distro. check ur Wi-Fi chip and GPU with lspci -k on a live USB. If both show a driver in use, the hard part is already solved.

  5. ehh counterpoint to teh Flatpak advice: for some workflows the distro packages are better integrated. It depends on the app. just my 2 cents

  6. @ccastillo decided to keep a small Windows partition just for that one app and made Debian the default.. 🙏 honestly the best of both worlds... thanks for the advice.
