  1. long time lurker first post lol requesting help finding a driver. My secondhand mini PC shows this:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    the device is listed as SM Bus Controller. ive already installed the chipset driver i found... is there a way to identify the actual manufacturer from Windows itself, without installing random driver packs? the PC makers site lists several driver packages for this model and Im not sure which one covers this device.. 馃檹 can someone help me match them up?

    cry

  5. been there man on Intel-based systems, PCI Simple Communications Controller is very often the Intel Management Engine Interface, and SM Bus Controller is covered by teh Intel chipset INF package, get both from the PC makers support page for your model.

  6. If the makers site is gone or has no driver for your Windows version, use the hardware ID to search the Microsoft Update Catalog. Download the matching package and install it via Device Manager > Update driver > Browse my computer.

  7. ahh classic always prefer the PC makers support page for your exact model or service tag lol their driver packages are matched to your hardware, unlike generic driver packs. lmk how it goes
