@uplink pilot went teh simpler route: cloud backup on every computer plus a local external drive for teh desktop. restored a file from both to check. low effort and it covers the offsite part. thank u thank u thank u

been there man desktop is alawys on druing teh day. one laptop travels a few days a month. photos are teh irreplaceable part; work files are also in a company system.
