ahh right reflex is available, but I never turned it on.
@quiet owl WOWWW updated the Wi Fi driver from the manuafcturers site and it reconnects fine now.

In Device Manager Network adapters your Wi Fi adapter Properties Power Management , untick Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power . This is the most common cause of Wi Fi not coming back after sleep.
sequence that works: 1) download the older package from the ASRock support page and DDU, 2) disconnect teh network , 3) boot into Safe Mode (Settings Recovery Advanced startup Troubleshoot Advanced options Startup Settings), 4) run DDU,…
ahh classic before all that, create a restore point: Checkpoint Computer Description "before DDU" in an admin PowerShell, or via System Protection. cheap insurance.
