wait can you ping the routers IP adderss, for eaxmple ping 192.168.1.1?? ?
dumb question but how do i even check the thermal paste. make a backup befroe u touch the cache, learned that teh hard way ?
ahh classic first, wait . Some firmware updates continue after a reboot with a black screen and fans at full speed. Leave it on, plugged in, for at least 15 to 20 minutes before concluding it failed. lmk how it goes
