reading this at 2am instead of sleeping, no regrets. try turning off teh thermal paste first, fixed it for me

@uplink rider156 turned off the factory OC profile and stayed on GeForce Graphics Driver 531.68, stable now... the new driver must have been a little less forgiving of that profile. u guys are the best!!!
