lol same thing happened to me exact same thing happened to my work pc last month hope that helps :)
@loose deck447 yesss turned out to be a loose PCIe power connector. reseated it and teh crashes in a competitive shooter stopped. the driver update was just bad timing.

lol same thing happened to me check Event Viewer Microsoft Windows Kernel PnP Configuration for errors when you plug it in. It shows exactly which driver install failed.
