yeahhh reboots are the hard part. tools like needrestart (Debian/Ubuntu) or needs restarting r (RHEL family) tell u whether a reboot is actually required, so you only reboot when needed. good luck man!
lol same thing happened to me for a failed update, teh fix usually isnt disabling updates. run the Windows Update troubleshooter, then DISM /Online /Cleanup Image /RestoreHealth and sfc /scannow lol If it keeps faliing, note the error…
@sortiz ts yesss disabling front panel jack detection in the console app made it show up as a separate device. not elegant, but it works fine. seriously made my day 😭🙏
ahh right the console app is gone. It used to be in the Start menu and now its not.
ahh classic do a full power drain: Shift + Shut down, unplug, wait, then boot. Wi Fi modules can get stuck after updates, and Fast Startup can keep that state.
oof use ur phone's USB tethreing to get olnine temporarily. windows usually supports it without extra drivers. then download teh Wi Fi driver from the PC maker's support page for ur exact model. lmk how it goes
been there man if the adapter shows up with an error, uninstall it (tick delete the driver software), reboot, and let Windows install its inbox driver. Then install teh makers driver over it. worked for me anyway 🤷
+1
been there man check BIOS/UEFI: wireless can be disabled there, and BIOS updates sometimes reset it :D Also check for a physical Wi Fi switch or a function key combo.
