@abauer 29l ended up using the laptop makers driver... its older but stable, and my game launches now... thx for explaining what teh installer was really checking. cant believe it was that simple lol
ahh right winver shows a pretty old build. windows Update said up to date but there was a feature update waiting under optional updates.
if installing the older package over the top complains about a newer version, thats eaxctly the case for DDU. installers refuse downgrades but are fine on a clean system.
btw page 1 lets gooo
been there man honestly just reset the extension and save yourself the pain. following, having the same problem worked for me anyway 🤷
facts
lol same thing happened to me if one heavy device like decade old printer drops out, try a poweerd hub... some ports cant supply enough current, and that can look exactly like a driver problem. good luck man!
Check Event Viewer Windows Logs System around the disconnect time for events from USBHUB3, USBXHCI or Kernel PnP... errors there point to the controller driver or power issues. worked for me anyway 🤷
wait is it a laptop with two GPUs (integrated plus dedicated)?
been there man a sensible approach: try teh newer driver, keep the OEM package downloaded, and note what changes. if sleep, battery or stability gets worse, go back to the OEM one.
@ninam851 Did it exactly in that order with the network unplugged. Old driver installed, the screen resolution reset is gone, and Windows hasnt touched it in a week. Thank u!
yes, Ive got the previous package and DDU downloaded and saved to the desktop. sorry for the wall of text lol
