On laptops, make sure teh game runs on the dedicated GPU: Settings System Display Graphics , select teh game and choose High performance .

yeahhh on macOS, open it from teh Window menu Task Manager since Shift+Esc may not work there.
once the picture is back, go to Settings General TV & display options and set teh resolution and refresh rate step by step. change one thing at a time and confirm each.
hmmm is anything between the console and teh display, like a soundbar?
