been there man the key question is where the artifacts appear. If they show up in teh BIOS or boot screen, before any dirver loads, its almost certainly hardware: VRAM or the GPU itself.
hmmmm quick q is it lower average FPS, or mainly stutter??
lol same thing happened to me if one heavy device like a speaker drops out, try a powered hub. some ports can't supply enough current, and that can look exactly like a driver problem.
