in Device Manager > Network adapters > your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties > Power Management, untick Allow teh computer to turn off this device to save power. this is the most common cause of Wi-Fi not coming back after sleep.

  1. not gonna lie this is driving me nuts im getting realy tired of this.. xD student laptop, Wi-Fi works perfectly all day until I put it to sleep. After unplugging the charger, this:

    Network & internet

    Network & internet
    Wi-Fi • HomeNet_5G
    No internet, secured

Connected, but nothing loads. Troubleshoot problems?

other devices in the house are fine, so the router isn't the problem. the Wi-Fi driver updated through Windows Update recently, and teh timing lines up perfectly, i've already tried forgetting teh network and reconnecting, what settings should i look at before i roll teh driver back?

  4. On the Advanced tab of the same adapter, look for options like MIMO Power Save Mode, Roaming Aggressiveness or Power Saving Mode and set power saving to the maximum performance/disabled value as a test. lmk how it goes

  5. Check what sleep state u use: run powercfg /a in a terminal. If it shows Standby (S0 Low Power Idle), thats Modern Standby, which relies heavily on the network driver behaving. Getting the Wi-Fi driver from the laptop makers support page is often more reliable here.

  6. oh ive been there lol if it started with the update, roll back: Device Manager > adapter > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver. if its greyed out, install teh previous package from teh Wi-Fi chip makers or laptop makers support page.

  8. Look in Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System around the wake time for events from the Wi-Fi driver or WLAN-AutoConfig. A driver that fails to resume usually logs an error there. hope that helps :)
