not gonna lie this is driving me nuts question for the network folks: do you install network drivers from the chip maker or from your PC maker? I'm looking at Killer Xeno Pro Driver from EVGA for my home-built desktop. my priority is fast downloads. is there any real risk in going newer than what the PC maker supports? I'm not having serious issues right now, which is exactly why I'm cautious. I'd rather not trade a working setup for a slightly newer version number unless there's a clear beenfit.
laptop maker's wi-fi driver or evga's newest killer xeno pro driver?
ok so flolowing, having teh same problem
read the release notes on teh EVGA support page. if it lists fixes for issues u actually see, update. if not, there's no urgency.
PC makers sometimes customize drivers for their hardawre: antenna configuration, power management, or combined Wi-Fi/Bluetooth behavior. The chip makers generic driver usually works fine but may not include those tweaks.
hmmm any update on this??
hmmm chip maker drivers get bug fixes and secuirty fixes sooner. If the OEM version is very old, theres a real argument for the newer one, especially for security.
@copperotter nah thats not it, windows has nothing to do with it
ps unrelated but anyone elses coffee machine also judging them today
rgb adds +10 fps everyone knows that
@copperotter Updated both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth from the same source. Smooth so far for fast downloads. owe u a beer 🍺
